PART obtains SAB approval to float tender for tunnel pumping stations

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26: The Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) has obtained approval from the State Audit Bureau (SAB) to fl oat a tender for the maintenance and operation of tunnel pumping stations, reports Al- Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources confirmed the necessary documents are being prepared to sign the contract with the winning company, coinciding with the start of the rainy season. Sources said the rainwater drainage network maintenance teams are being deployed to clean manholes and drainages, indicating the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) returned the documents related to 10 general and emergency maintenance tenders to the Ministry of Public Works due to the latter’s failure to reply to its comments.

Meanwhile, sources from the ministry disclosed that the tenders are for the general and emergency maintenance works on roads and streets that suffer from severe wear and tear in a number of areas. Sources affirmed the ministry is currently preparing its response to the agency’s comments. Asked about the cleaning of rainwater drainage networks; sources disclosed this will be done as per three existing contracts, while PART requested for assistance from some companies to prevent the accumulation of water on roads, especially the highways.
