Parliamentary committee nods modifying some pleading law

KUWAIT, May 7 : Parliamentary committee for legal and legislative affairs on Thursday approved bills for amending some provisions of the law for civil and commercial pleading.


The proposed modifications specifically target electronic detriment, enabling judiciary to employ digital technology for facilitating proceedings.
Committee chairperson Khaled Al-Shatti said in a statement members of the panel unanimously agreed to amend some provisions of Law 38/1980 with respect of civil and commercial pleadings.


Essentially, the advertisement can be posted online or any other electronic means capable of keeping and retrieving it. However, a court, upon request of litigators and defenders, can post the advertisement conventionally.
Exemptions have been stipulated for aiding the elderly and those who are not electronically literate.


The panel meeting was attended by Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanem, Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Justice Dr. Fahad Al-Afasi and officials from the Public Authority for Civil Information(KUNA) —
