KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: The Kuwait Fund for Development (KFD) announced that the Public Authority for Minors’ Affairs has contributed US$1 million to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund, becoming the first government entity to contribute to the Fund since its launch on 5 July, in a step that reflects the widening scope of national participation in support of the initiative aimed at strengthening the State of Kuwait’s preparedness and raising the efficiency of its emergency response system. The contribution of the Public Authority for Minors’ Affairs represents a significant addition to the Fund’s progress and opens the way for broader institutional participation in support of its objectives, strengthening the integration of national efforts and the direction of resources toward priority interventions and projects.
The addition of the first government entity to the list of contributors reflects the growing momentum the initiative has witnessed since its launch and underscores the importance of joining the efforts of state institutions and the private sector in building a national system that is more prepared and resilient in dealing with a wide range of emergency conditions and challenges. The Public Authority for Minors’ Affairs is one of Kuwait’s longstanding national institutions with a humanitarian and social mission.
Established in 1939, it safeguards the interests of those under its guardianship, protecting, preserving, and managing their funds and property in accordance with the responsibilities defined by law. The Authority’s role also extends to serving the community and supporting initiatives of a humanitarian and social nature, in keeping with its mission rooted in the values of care, solidarity, and social responsibility. The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund was established under an initiative put forward by the Kuwait Fund for Development and approved by the Council of Ministers, with the Kuwait Fund assuming its management and supervision of its operations, with the aim of enhancing institutional flexibility, raising the efficiency of national response, and enabling the authorities concerned to confront emergencies efficiently and effectively
