Palestinian envoy lauds Kuwait’s consistent stance

Palestinian Ambassador to Kuwait Rami Tahboub

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22: Palestinian Ambassador to Kuwait Rami Tahboub said Kuwait fully supports the Palestinian people and it is firm in opposing any efforts to displace them. In a press statement, Tahboub pointed out that the commitment of Kuwait to allocate $1 billion over the coming years for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is a clear proof of its unwavering position on the issue. He cited the speech of Kuwaiti Foreign Affairs Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al- Jaber at the Peace Council meeting in Washington. He commended the minister for reiterating the long-standing and consistent stance of Kuwait on the Palestinian cause.

He stressed that this cause is an important aspect of the foreign policy of Kuwait. He asserted that maintaining peace and stability in the region depends on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and on securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in line with the international law, United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. He also confirmed the confidence of the Palestinian leadership, government and people in the sisterly State of Kuwait, HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government and citizens. He thanked Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber for clearly conveying the stance of Kuwait’s political leadership in the abovementioned international gathering.
