Pakistani Tailor Arrested in Kuwait for Posing as Cop and Preying on Arab, Asian Women

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: Kuwait’s General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations has arrested a 45-year-old Pakistani expatriate accused of impersonating a Ministry of Interior officer and defrauding women of Arab and Asian nationalities.

According to a security source, investigators received information that the suspect, who worked as a tailor, had been posing as a ministry officer and claiming that he could help women expedite their government transactions.

The suspect allegedly used his fluency in the local Kuwaiti dialect to gain the victims’ trust and, in some cases, wore a police uniform while presenting himself as an officer.

Investigations reportedly uncovered evidence that he had a police uniform tailored and obtained a badge bearing the rank of colonel, falsely suggesting that he was affiliated with the ministry.

After obtaining a warrant from the Public Prosecution, detectives arrested the suspect and searched his residence. Authorities found a cop's uniform, a badge associated with employees of the General Directorate of Control and Inspection, and the forged officer's insignia.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to impersonating an officer and using the false identity to mislead women and facilitate fraudulent activities.

Legal procedures are underway to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud and identify any other individuals who may have been affected.
