ISLAMABAD (AP), April 7: Pakistan has called for a two-week pause in the ongoing Middle East conflict, urging US President Donald Trump to extend his deadline to allow diplomatic efforts to progress.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said negotiations for a peaceful resolution were “progressing steadily” and could yield meaningful results in the near future.
Sharif also appealed to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for the same two-week period as a goodwill gesture, while urging all parties involved in the conflict to observe a temporary ceasefire to facilitate diplomacy and promote long-term regional stability.
