ISLAMABAD, Jul 12: Pakistan on Sunday urged Iran to follow the path of de-escalation and restraint in accordance with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached with the United States, as tensions continue to escalate across the Gulf.
According to Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar conveyed the message during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The two ministers discussed the evolving regional security situation, with Dar emphasizing that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means of resolving disputes and achieving lasting peace and stability.
Dar also reaffirmed Pakistan's readiness to play a constructive role in supporting regional peace and stability amid the ongoing crisis.
The call comes as military exchanges between Iran and the United States have intensified, raising concerns over regional security and the safety of international shipping in the Gulf.
