Pakistan, UN Chief Discuss Regional Peace, Security and Key Global Issues

NEW YORK, May 27: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held discussions with António Guterres on diplomatic efforts to promote peace in the Middle East, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

The ministry said the talks in New York focused on regional developments and Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to encourage dialogue and diplomacy aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.

It added that Secretary-General Guterres appreciated Pakistan’s engagement and contributions to international peace and security, as well as its support for the broader United Nations agenda.

The two sides also exchanged views on key international issues, including United Nations Security Council reform, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, developments in Afghanistan, and the Palestinian issue.

The UN chief reportedly welcomed Pakistan’s active diplomatic role and its continued participation in multilateral efforts to address global challenges.
