RIYADH, Apr 16: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a visit to the Kingdom, where he briefed him on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to help ease tensions between the United States and Iran. According to an official statement, Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s “full solidarity and support” for Saudi Arabia and commended the Kingdom’s restraint amid recent regional tensions.

The meeting, which lasted over two hours, was also attended by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The Saudi crown prince praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue, including efforts led by Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir, who was recently dispatched to Tehran for talks with Iranian leadership.

Pakistan, which maintains close ties with both Saudi Arabia and Iran, continues to position itself as a mediator in the region. The development comes as Saudi Arabia faces security concerns following recent retaliatory attacks, despite its longstanding defense agreement with Pakistan.
