ISLAMABAD, Feb 7, (AP): The Pakistan Cricket Board elected a chairman for the first time in 14 months and gave the job to a politician from Punjab.
Mohsin Naqvi received a three-year term from all 10 governors of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been unanimously elected as the chairman,” Naqvi said in a statement. “I am thankful for the trust and confidence reposed in me. I am fully committed to upgrading the standard of the game in the country and bringing professionalism in the administration of cricket in Pakistan.”

The PCB had been without an elected chairman since Ramiz Raja quit in December 2022. Najam Sethi was appointed as chairman and quit in July.
Sethi was replaced by Zaka Ashraf, who was given until last weekend to form a new board and organize an election for chairman. But he didn’t and resigned in January. The job was achieved by new interim chairman Shah Khawar.

Naqvi was appointed to the board as Ashraf’s replacement by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul-Haq-Kakar, who is also the PCB patron.
Naqvi has continued as the caretaker chief minister of Punjab province but will leave that role on Thursday when general elections are scheduled.
