KUWAIT CITY, July 1: Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Zafar Iqbal said the Kuwaiti-Pakistani relations are witnessing continuous development at all levels, disclosing that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries increased by eight percent in the past eleven months despite the challenges posed by the disruption of global supply chains. Iqbal made the statement at the event organized by the Embassy of Pakistan with the theme, “Taste of Pakistan 2026.”

A large number of ambassadors, diplomats, officials and media representatives attended the event, which aimed to introduce Pakistani cuisine and strengthen cultural ties between Pakistan and Kuwait. According to Iqbal, the above-mentioned growth was achieved through the concerted efforts of the relevant authorities in both countries in maintaining the smooth flow of trade. He affirmed that bilateral relations are based on a deep-rooted friendship and mutual trust, away from hidden agendas. He disclosed that more than 100,000 Pakistanis are currently residing in Kuwait, contributing to various economic and developmental sectors -- a reflection of the strength of the bond between the two nations. He added that visa procedures for Pakistanis wishing to work in Kuwait have been streamlined, proving the strength of bilateral relations. He confirmed that Kuwait has a special place in the hearts of the Pakistanis, and that many members of the Pakistani community are attached to the country and do not wish to leave due to the security, stability, and high quality of life it offers.

He praised the wisdom of the Kuwaiti political leadership in managing the situation during the past period, as well as the care and attention that the country gives to all residents. He explained that the two countries are bound by a long-term defense cooperation agreement that includes security cooperation, exchange of information and expertise, and implementation of joint training programs and exercises. He pointed out that recent regional developments solidified coordination in the technical and training fields. He confirmed that there are no Pakistani military forces deployed in Kuwait, while asserting that dialogue and diplomacy are the best ways to overcome crises. He lauded the role of Kuwait in supporting efforts to de-escalate tension and maintain security and stability in the region. He reaffirmed the support of Pakistan for any negotiation aimed at maintaining peace and its readiness to provide facilities whenever necessary.

He indicated that specifying the venue for any negotiation is a decision that all concerned parties must agree on, adding that the most important factor is the continuation of dialogue to achieve positive results. He went on to say that Pakistan remains committed to guaranteeing the security and safety of Kuwait, emphasizing the unwavering support of his country for Kuwait under all circumstances. He then condemned any aggression or threat to the security and stability of the latter. He also explained that the event is a celebration of authentic Pakistani flavors, rich traditions, and the renowned hospitality of his country.

He stated that food is one of the most important means of spreading culture and fostering dialogue and understanding between people. He added that the dishes presented at the event embody the geographical and cultural diversity and rich culinary heritage of Pakistan. He pointed out that the occasion not only showcased Pakistani cuisine, but also celebrated the historic friendship between Pakistan and Kuwait.
