Over a million e-passports handed over to Kuwaitis

KUWAIT CITY, July 25: Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah revealed that more than one million new electronic passports have been handed over to citizens since the start of issuance of the new passports, reports Al-Rai daily. He explained that 1,001,984 passports have been handed over to citizens as of last Monday. On Monday, 5,173 passports were issued via centers allocated by the ministry for this purpose.

This includes the 570 passports issued by Ishbiliya center, 466 by Fahd Al-Ahmed center, 538 by Shamiya center, 369 by Adan center, 498 by West Mishref center, 355 by Saad Al-Abdullah center and 636 by the headquarters of the General Department of Immigration and Passports. During the afternoon shift, 439 passports were issued by Ishbiliya center, 311 by Shamiya center, 286 by Adan center, 410 by West Mishref center, 446 by Saad Al-Abdullah center and 66 by the headquarters of General Department of Immigration and Passports.

Major General Sheikh Al-Jarrah praised the efforts exerted by the ministry employees in completing the citizens’ transactions as quickly as possible, reassuring citizens who are staying abroad that their passports will remain valid until they return to Kuwait and renew them.
