KUWAIT CITY, Jan 5: Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef, president of the Kuwait Football Association, announced that more than 122 television channels will broadcast the French Super Cup match between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille, scheduled for 9 p.m. next Thursday at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
Sheikh Al-Yousef made the remarks during a press conference hosted by Kuwait Airways to outline preparations by the Supreme Organizing Committee for the event and to ensure it is presented in a manner befitting Kuwait’s sporting reputation, in cooperation with sponsoring partners.
The conference was attended by Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef; Kuwait Airways Chairman Captain Abdulmohsen Al-Faqaan; Waleed Al-Khashti, Chief Corporate Affairs& Relations Officer at Zain Kuwait; CEO of Kuwait Flour Mills & Bakeries Mutlaq Al-Zayed; Deputy Group CEO of the Combined Group Dr. Mohammed Al-Awad; Vice President of the “Visit Kuwait” platform Dr. Fatima Sayed Hashem; and IKEA CEO for Kuwait, Jordan, and Morocco Marino Maganto.
Sheikh Al-Yousef revealed that the match will be preceded by a 12-minute musical operetta in Arabic and French, starting at 8 p.m., featuring international star Khaled and singer Bader Al-Shuaibi, along with laser shows and several surprises for fans. He added that 90 percent of match tickets have already been sold.
Kuwait Airways Chairman Abdulmohsen Al-Faqaan praised the efforts of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef, describing the event as a “distinguished start to 2026.” He said Kuwait Airways is proud to be part of the global sporting occasion and has prepared a range of surprises and valuable prizes for fans, including business-class airline tickets and commemorative gifts.
For his part, Mutlaq Al-Zayed said hosting the French Super Cup represents the ideal opening to the New Year, expressing hope that 2026 will be filled with major sporting events that boost local tourism. He noted that Kuwait Flour Mills & Bakeries has a long history of active participation in sports events and will continue to contribute positively to the success of major international competitions, stressing that global reach can only be achieved through engagement in prominent world events.
Waleed Al-Khashti thanked Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef for his role in bringing the event to Kuwait, saying the Super Cup sends a strong message that the country is capable of hosting major events according to the highest international standards. He described the tournament as a comprehensive sporting, economic, and tourism experience, adding that Zain’s participation reflects successful cooperation between the public and private sectors and presents Kuwait’s positive image to the world.
