KUWAIT CITY, June 29: The Ministry of Interior carried out a traffic campaign in Amghara and Khaitan areas which resulted in an impounding number of vehicles including trucks and petrol/diesel tankers violating safety regulations.

The campaign resulted in seizing many vehicles driven by expats which are not suitable to be driven on roads due to safety concerns. The drivers are urged to maintain their vehicles periodically and pay attention to tires, smoke emission, paint and lights. Traffic campaign monitors violators such as reckless driving, cars which make annoying noise (added silencer sound booster), window tinting.

1,400 violations were recorded, from this 140 vehicles were impounded and barred on the MOI system. This prohibition order will not be lifted until and unless these vehicles are presented to a special technical committee for technical examination, where these vehicles will be tested by the engineers/examiners. Only after repairing the vehicle will it be approved to drive again on the roads. Since the beginning of the year over 10,000 vehicles have been blocked due to safety standards.
