KUWAIT CITY, Nov 28, (Agencies): Brigadier General Hazza Al-Alatti, the Commander of the Kuwaiti Naval Force, affirmed the state of readiness of Kuwait’s naval forces to counter potential threats during a press briefing on the sidelines of the reception ceremony for the Emirati frigate “Al-Hosn P172” at the Shuwaikh port.

Al-Alatti underscored the continuous monitoring of Kuwait’s waters by military boats, ensuring a prompt response to emergencies. He reassured the public that the maritime region is secure, emphasizing Kuwait’s commitment to maintaining a 100% safe sea.

Providing insights into Kuwait’s naval initiatives, Al-Alatti revealed plans to bolster the naval fleet with vessels similar in size to the “Al-Hosn” frigate. International companies, including those from the Gulf, have submitted proposals, with contracts expected to be finalized next year.

Addressing joint military exercises, Al-Alatti highlighted Kuwait’s active participation in exercises organized by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The most recent exercise, “Union 23,” took place in Oman, with plans for the next one in Qatar after two years. Additionally, joint exercises with the Navy of Saudi Arabia are scheduled in the coming months.

Al-Alatti expressed satisfaction with Kuwait’s excellent relationship with the Iraqi Navy, emphasizing the regular communication and cooperation between the two entities.

During the ceremony, Al-Alatti welcomed the Emirati frigate, characterizing it as an invaluable opportunity for Kuwaiti Naval Force members to acquaint themselves with advanced systems and technologies. He emphasized the importance of reciprocal visits among GCC naval vessels, citing their role in maintaining regional stability and safeguarding maritime borders.

Emirati Ambassador Dr. Matar Al Neyadi confirmed the significance of the visit of the Emirati frigate “Al-Hosn P172” within the framework of the exchange program between the two nations. Al Neyadi elaborated on the strong Emirati-Kuwaiti relations, citing a notable increase in trade exchange between the two countries.

Colonel Rashid Al Naqbi, Commander of the UAE Baynounah Ship Group, emphasized the unity of the Gulf Cooperation Council in facing regional challenges. He highlighted the Baynounah project, a joint initiative to build six missile boats, showcasing the joint cooperation between the UAE and Kuwait.

The Baynounah project, with boats measuring 71 meters, reflects the commitment of the two nations to maritime security. Al Naqbi noted that the first boat was built in France, while the subsequent vessels were constructed in the UAE, further solidifying the collaborative efforts between the two countries.
