Ooredoo Kuwait CEO addresses ICT Leadership Panel in Dubai – Ooredoo Volunteers Program wins ‘Best CSR’ award

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: Ooredoo Kuwait CEO and General Manager Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, stressed on the importance of customer satisfaction and experience on an ICT Leadership Panel, which took place in Dubai on Dec13. Sitting alongside twelve of the region’s leading innovators, he described the company’s vision and strategy for deploying high speed LTE mobile infrastructure in Kuwait and how this has helped Ooredoo Kuwait surprise and delight customers across the country.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, said: “Ensuring an optimum customer experience is at the heart of everything that we do. Kuwait is a very sophisticated and competitive market, and our customers are aware of the latest trends in technology. This is why we study the latest trends in the global telecommunication to ensure giving our customers the best and latest services and technologies”.

He added: “When we launched the first LTE+ network in Kuwait last year – providing the fastest mobile data with the highest quality and the most efficient cost – we took care to deploy the right technologies at the right time and we have benefited from this approach.”

Ooredoo Kuwait’s data services are amongst the fastest growing in the region and traffic has grown by over 600% since the introduction of LTE.  Data services now account for a strategic proportion of Ooredoo Kuwaits overall sales and is having a positive ripple effect on data-hungry device sales such as smart devices and tablets.The panel was moderated by Ghazi Atallah, Managing Director at consultancy firm NexGen, who specializes in helping telecommunications service providers and Smart Cities realize business value out of their technology investments.

In addition to participating in a leadership panel discussion on Digital transformation, Ooredoo Kuwaits CEO also accepted the Telecom Review Excellence Award for “Best CSR Program” from the CEO of Trace Media International, Toni Eid, for Ooredoo’sOoredoo’s Volunteer Program, which attracted more than 800 volunteers across Kuwait last summer. The award was presented at a gala event held at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel in Dubai, following the summit, in front of hundreds of officials from the telecommunications and ICT industry.

Commenting on the recognition Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, said: “I am so grateful to receive this award, which I dedicate to our 800 volunteers, our partners at the Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Ministry of Youth, Kuwaiti Red Crescent, and our own team who worked so hard on this initiative. We feel responsible towards the youth segment, and we wanted from this initiative to help in developing a culture that of volunteerism in this important segment.”

Ooredoo Kuwait launched the Ooredoo Volunteer Program alongside Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Ministry of Youth and Kuwaiti Red Crescent, in 2015. The Program offers professional training to young Kuwaitis with the aim of enhancing the impact of volunteers contributing to good causes in the country.

“This year’s award winners represent the absolute best in our industry and we are very proud to honor these winners with such a distinguished award,” said Toni Eid, CEO of Trace Media International and founder of Telecom REVIEW series.

This is the second time that Ooredoo Kuwait’s Volunteer Program has been recognized at a regional telecoms ceremony. It was previously shortlisted at the Comms MEA Awards, which also took place in Dubai. This and other initiatives reflect the companys community spirit and corporate values.
