Only Health Insurance Fees Are Exempt, Not Residency Fees

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: The Ministry of Interior has denied claims circulating on social media regarding an alleged exemption from residency fees under the new residency law, stressing that such information is inaccurate and not based on any official decision or statement.

In a clarification addressing an audio clip that has been widely shared online, the Ministry confirmed that residency procedures remain unchanged and that residency fees continue to be collected in full in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. The Ministry emphasized that no exemption from residency fees has been approved.

The Ministry further explained that the only exemption currently in effect applies exclusively to health insurance fees, in accordance with a decision issued by the Ministry of Health. This exemption is limited to the first three domestic workers sponsored by Kuwaiti families and does not extend to any other fees, including residency charges.

The Ministry of Interior urged the public to exercise accuracy and responsibility when publishing or sharing information and to rely solely on official and authorized communication channels for verified announcements and updates.
