One Year Jail For ‘spying’ On Wife In Bedroom With Spycams

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 7: The Court of Appeals has upheld the verdict issued by a lower court, which sentenced a man to one-year imprisonment with hard labor for domestic violence and violating his wife’s privacy using technology. The related civil claim has been transferred to the appropriate court.

According to the case file, the defendant had unlawfully installed two hidden surveillance cameras in the couple’s marital bedroom and living room. Using these cameras, he secretly spied on his wife and recorded her without her knowledge or consent, which constituted a serious violation of her privacy. Evidence presented to the court, including investigative reports, findings from the General Department of Criminal Evidence, and analysis of the defendant’s seized mobile phone, confirmed the existence of multiple video recordings.

The defendant also confessed to installing the cameras and viewing the recordings on his phone, which corroborated the investigation’s findings. Lawyer Inaam Haider, who represented the victim at court, presented a strong case, submitting detailed evidence and arguments outlining the incident. She emphasized that all elements of the crime were present, highlighting the severity of the accused’s actions within the family context. Lawyer Haider urged the court to impose the maximum legal penalty to protect the victim’s rights and serve as a clear deterrent against similar offenses.
