One-Stop Energy Shop: Charging Your EV at Fuel Stations

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) is currently developing a plan to provide charging points for electric vehicles at fuel stations. Informed sources from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy affirmed the ministry’s readiness to cooperate and coordinate with the concerned company to implement its strategy aimed at providing vehicle charging points as an additional service at the fuel stations affiliated with the Kuwait National Petroleum Company starting from 2030.

They explained that the ministry had finished preparing the list of chargers for electric vehicles in Kuwait in September last year. It included the strategies, regulating rules, principles, and standards for the charger system for electric vehicles. It also included the principles of connecting the system to the network of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, in accordance with the technical conditions and standards appropriate to the climatic conditions of Kuwait with regard to electric car chargers.

The trend towards providing vehicle charging points in a number of sectors and locations across the country, including government and private institutions, comes within the framework of the ministry keeping pace with the global shift towards electric cars with the aim of using clean energy for transportation and reducing carbon dioxide emissions and other pollutants in line with the New Kuwait 2035 vision by achieving a sustainable living environment and creating a clean environment.
