One More Vessel Deliberately Hit by Projectile Near Oman; Crew Abandons Ship

MUSCAT, July 20: A vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile near Oman’s Kumzar, forcing the crew to abandon the ship safely, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported.

According to UKMTO, the incident occurred approximately 8 nautical miles northwest of Kumzar, Oman. The vessel caught fire following the impact and remained adrift, with the blaze not yet extinguished.

The maritime security agency said all crew members were safely evacuated and no environmental impact had been reported so far.

Authorities are investigating the incident, which adds to growing maritime security concerns in the region. UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
