DUBAI, June 28: A tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, causing damage to the vessel’s bridge, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Saturday.

UKMTO said all crew members were safe following the incident and no pollution had been reported. The maritime security agency said authorities were investigating the attack and had not identified the source of the projectile.

The incident marks the latest security alert in the strategic waterway, one of the world's most important energy shipping routes, amid heightened regional tensions.

UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to exercise caution, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity.

The Strait of Hormuz has witnessed increased maritime security concerns in recent months, with regional tensions raising fears of further disruptions to commercial shipping.
