MUMBAI, June 28: The Maharashtra Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) 2026, scheduled to be held on Sunday across the state, has been postponed after the examination paper was allegedly leaked nearly 24 hours before the test.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, the Maharashtra State Examination Council said the decision was taken to uphold the transparency and integrity of the examination process. The TET was due to be conducted at 1,028 examination centres across Maharashtra.
According to the council, acting on confidential information early Saturday, Bhiwandi Police raided a location where several individuals were allegedly found in possession of pages from a sealed TET 2026 question paper packet. Officials from the examination council were called to verify the material, following which a criminal case was registered at Bhiwandi Police Station.
Sources said the leaked question paper surfaced in the Thane region nearly a day before the examination. Police reportedly recovered the paper during the operation and detained several suspects for questioning. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.
Authorities have not announced a revised date for the examination, while investigations into the alleged leak are ongoing.
