RIYADH, Sept 17: One person was killed, and two others were injured after debris from a drone fell in Saudi Arabia’s Taif Governorate following its interception and destruction, Saudi Civil Defense said on Thursday.

The deceased was a Yemeni resident, while those injured were a Saudi citizen and a Pakistani resident. The Pakistani national was reported to be in critical condition.

Saudi Civil Defense said its teams responded to the incident after debris from the intercepted drone fell in Taif. The falling debris also caused material damage to several buildings and vehicles.

Saudi authorities said the drone had been launched by the Houthi militia. The death is the first reported in Saudi Arabia this month, following the recent intensification of Houthi attacks on the kingdom.
