MUNICH, June 20: One person was killed after two freight trains collided on a bridge in Munich early Saturday, causing two carriages to derail and fall onto the street below, German police said.

The collision occurred in the northern Munich district of Milbertshofen at around 1:40 a.m. local time, according to emergency authorities. Around 60 rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene following the incident.

A police spokesperson said the cause of the crash was under investigation.

The impact caused significant damage, with two freight train carriages leaving the tracks and crashing onto the roadway beneath the bridge. Emergency teams responded to secure the area and assess the situation.
