One detained, one sought as police found robbing expats

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Detectives from Criminal Investigations Department detained a policeman from Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences and an unemployed individual who were accused of robbing expatriates. They are on the lookout for a policeman from the Falsification Unit of Criminal Investigations Department who is the head of the gang, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to security sources, the police received several complaints including some from salesmen of various shops, against three thieves, two of who had police IDs. The robbers used to stop expatriates who are violators of the residency law and rob them of their possessions, and then demand them to go a police station and wait for them there.

As for shops, the policeman who is at large used to visit shops, check the civil IDs of the expatriate salesmen, and play the same game if they are found to be in violation of the labor law.

After intensive investigations, detectives raided the houses of the two suspects in Abu Halifa and Al-Riqqa areas, arrested them and referred them to the authorities where victims recognized them in a police lineup. Reportedly, the policeman used a police vehicle for his crimes and had once even crashed into the car of one of the victims and sped off. Police raided the house of the key suspect, the head of the gang, but he was not there. Investigations are underway to find and arrest him.
