MUSCAT, July 12: Oman's Maritime Security Center said rescue teams saved 23 crew members from the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy after it issued a distress call off the coast of Musandam on Sunday.
The center said the Cyprus-flagged vessel sent a mayday signal while located about 4.4 nautical miles off the Musandam coast, prompting an emergency rescue operation.
According to the authorities, all 23 rescued crew members are receiving medical care, while search and rescue teams continue efforts to locate one crew member who remains missing.
No further details were immediately available on the cause of the distress incident or the condition of the vessel.
