MUSCAT, Apr 5: The Omani Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that deputy foreign ministers and experts from concerned parties held talks to discuss “several visions and proposals” aimed at ensuring the “smooth transit” of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on social media, the ministry noted that the discussions come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region, with Oman continuing its traditional role as a mediator in regional tensions, particularly between the United States and Iran.
The meeting reportedly took place two days before a renewed deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for Iran to address concerns related to the strategic waterway, a key global energy transit route.
Trump has warned of “devastating consequences” if Tehran fails to comply by Monday, underscoring rising tensions surrounding maritime security in the region.
