MUSCAT, July 8: Oman on Wednesday strongly condemned the attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, as well as the assault on two Saudi and Qatari commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that the escalating military tensions pose a serious threat to regional security and global trade.
In a statement, Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the Sultanate's solidarity with Bahrain and Kuwait, expressing support for all measures taken by the two countries to safeguard their security, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.
The ministry also condemned the attacks on the Saudi and Qatari commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest maritime shipping routes, stressing that such incidents endanger maritime safety and international navigation.
Oman warned that the growing military escalation in the region threatens not only regional stability but also international trade flows and global energy supplies, urging efforts to prevent further deterioration of the security situation.
The statement adds to a growing wave of regional and international condemnation following the attacks on the Gulf states and commercial shipping, with several countries calling for restraint, de-escalation and the protection of freedom of navigation.
