Oman Airports Remain Fully Operational

MUSCAT, Mar 6: Oman Airports has confirmed that the country’s main airport remains fully operational despite ongoing regional air travel disruptions. In a statement posted on its social media channels, the company said Muscat International Airport, Salalah Airport and Sohar Airport continue to operate normally and are open for business.

The company noted that Oman is among the few countries in the region where airports are operating around the clock without slot restrictions. It added that the airports are well-positioned to support airlines requiring operational flexibility, additional capacity or temporary network adjustments during the current disruptions.

Oman Airport Authority also said the country could serve as an alternative gateway to the Gulf, offering onward land transport connections to several destinations across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Slot coordination for flights is handled through Airport Coordination Limited (ACL), and airlines wishing to operate flights to Muscat, Salalah or Sohar are encouraged to submit slot requests through the standard ACL process.

For new airlines planning to launch services to Oman, the company said it will work closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman to facilitate and accelerate regulatory approvals where possible. Oman Airports added that its commercial and operations teams remain ready to assist airlines and discuss operational requirements or potential opportunities during this period.

Meanwhile, other Airlines in the region have begun cautiously resuming limited flight operations following the partial reopening of airspace, although several operational restrictions remain in place as security developments continue to be monitored.

Kuwait Airways has started operating special flights for citizens via Saudi Arabia from several cities, including London, Paris and Manchester. Also, EgyptAir has gradually resumed some flights while maintaining the suspension of services to several destinations in the Gulf region. Emirates has also begun operating more than 100 flights from Dubai to transport passengers and move essential supplies. However, flight suspensions or reductions remain in place across several Gulf countries as authorities and airlines continue to assess the evolving regional situation.
