MUSCAT, Mar 9: Oman's International Airport has denied issuing a message circulating online that appeared to instruct private jet operators to avoid scheduling additional flights to the airport to prioritize government and commercial traffic.
In a statement, the airport confirmed it “continues to welcome and facilitate private jet flights and business aviation operations,” rejecting claims that any official restrictions had been imposed.
The confusion stemmed from a notice bearing what appeared to be the Oman Airports logo, which some charter executives said they had received. The message, first reported by The Financial Times and also seen by Reuters, asked airlines and operators to cancel any non-scheduled flights and refrain from submitting new requests “until further notice.”
Dated March 6, the disputed document cited “crisis management measures” at Muscat International Airport and claimed that flight movements were being limited to approved seasonal services to manage congestion and maintain capacity levels.
Oman Airports has not commented on the origin of the message but reiterated that all private and business aviation operations are continuing as usual.
