Olympic Committee’s New Era: Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah Leads Board for 2023-2027

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3:  The Kuwait Olympic Committee’s General Assembly has endorsed a new Board of Directors for the term spanning 2023 to 2027. The elections, held today at the Committee’s headquarters in the Youth Center of Jaber Al-Ahmad City, Central, saw Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah appointed as the new head.

The assembly, attended by numerous members, and representatives of specialized sports federations, and clubs, also recommended Sheikh Mubarak Faisal Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah for the Vice President position and Hussein Al-Musallam for the Secretary position. Six committee members were also appointed: Sheikh Jaber Thamer Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Ali Al-Marri, Nael Al-Awadi, Musaed Al-Ajeel, Ghazi Al-Jariwi, and Ali Al-Dabbous.

Furthermore, the General Assembly appointed Fatima Hayat, Sheikha Bibi Salem Al-Sabah, and Rabaa Al-Hajri as members of the affiliated Women’s Committee. Expressing gratitude for the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Sheikh Fahd Nasser Al-Sabah pledged to nurture the Olympic sports movement in the country.

In his speech, he highlighted the committee’s achievements during his first term, including notable victories in the Olympic Games, Asian Games, Arab Games, and Islamic Games. Sheikh Fahd Nasser Al-Sabah outlined several developments during his tenure, including amendments to comply with the Olympic Charter, the approval of a code of ethics, the adoption of a unified bylaw for affiliated committees, and the enhancement of the committee’s logo and identity. Additionally, cooperation agreements were signed with numerous Olympic committees globally. Emphasizing the committee’s commitment to women’s sports, Sheikh Fahd Nasser Al-Sabah noted support for female athletes both within and outside Kuwait. Notable initiatives include the approval of medical insurance for Kuwaiti athletes and facilitating their treatment abroad, particularly at the Aspire Qatar Academy.
