LOS ANGELES, March 14, (Agencies): Olivia Munn, renowned for her roles in X-Men: Apocalypse, faced a daunting diagnosis: breast cancer. Sharing her journey on Wednesday via Instagram, the 43-year-old actress revealed a series of poignant photos from her hospital treatment last year.

“In February of 2023, I decided to take charge of my health and underwent a genetic test screening for 90 different cancer genes,” Munn disclosed. “To my relief, I tested negative for all, including BRCA, the most commonly known breast cancer gene. My sister Sara had also tested negative, and we celebrated with a virtual high-five. Around the same time, I had a routine mammogram, which returned normal results.”

“However, just two months later, my world shifted with a breast cancer diagnosis,” she continued. “In the subsequent ten months, I underwent four surgeries, countless days confined to bed, and delved into the complexities of cancer, treatment modalities, and hormone therapies.”

Remarkably, Munn confessed to shedding tears only twice throughout her arduous journey. “There seemed no room for tears; my focus became laser-sharp, shelving any emotions that might cloud my judgment,” she reflected.

The actress disclosed that she chose to keep her diagnosis private until now, needing time to navigate the toughest phases before sharing her experience. Munn credited her “guardian angel,” OB/GYN Dr Thais Aliabadi, renowned for her work with celebrities like Rihanna and Khloé Kardashian, for leading her towards early detection and recovery.
