Official Work to Resume in Kuwait March 1 After National Day, Liberation Day Holidays

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: The Civil Service Commission has announced that all ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions will be closed on Wednesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 26, 2026, in observance of Kuwait’s National Day and Liberation Day. Official work is set to resume on Sunday, March 1.

The Bureau advised entities with special operational needs to coordinate their holiday schedules with the relevant authorities, ensuring that public interests are maintained.

This announcement follows Cabinet Resolution No. 42 of 1979 on official holidays, Resolution No. 179 of 1992 regarding Liberation Day closures, and the Cabinet’s 2026 decision (Meeting No. 2026/5 – 91) confirming the suspension of work for the national celebrations.

The Civil Service Bureau reiterated that the holidays apply to all government sectors while allowing flexibility for agencies with special duties to determine their own schedules in consultation with competent authorities.
