‘Number of divorces increases by 1,000’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: The number of divorcees increased by 1,000 from December 2015 to June 2016, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to the statistics released by the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), the number of Kuwaiti divorcees reached 37,000 while the section on the marital status of 406,000 Kuwaiti men and 440,000 Kuwaiti women who belong to the age group 15 and above revealed that 9,533 Kuwaiti men are married to more than one woman and 96 of these men have four wives.

On the number of divorcees per governorate, Hawally recorded the highest with 7,659 and Jahra has the least with 4,037.

The statistics also showed that the number of divorcees without children reached 13,000 or 35 percent of the total number of divorcees.
