Now Face Up to Two Years in Prison for Leaking Addiction Records

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9: The Ministry of Interior has issued a warning underscoring strict penalties for violating the confidentiality of addiction-related records. According to the announcement, anyone who discloses data or information related to addiction reports, patient treatment, or individuals admitted to rehabilitation or addiction-treatment centres faces imprisonment for up to two years, a fine of up to KD 10,000, or both penalties.

The ministry stressed that protecting personal and medical information is a legal obligation and a key part of safeguarding society. It reaffirmed its commitment to taking firm action against any breach of confidentiality, emphasizing that such violations undermine trust in rehabilitation and treatment systems and will not be tolerated under the law.
