KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26: The Ministry of Commerce has emphasized, during an inspection tour of cooperative societies, that consumers are a key partner in the regulatory system, with a role as important as that of field inspectors.

The ministry highlighted that the “Sahel” application now allows consumers to submit complaints electronically with ease, eliminating the need to visit service centers in person. This digital platform helps speed up procedures and saves time and effort.

Complaints are automatically directed to the nearest specialized center based on the complainant’s location. For example, complaints from Hawalli are routed to the Jabriya center, while those from Salmiya go to the Salmiya center, ensuring prompt handling.

The ministry explained that this mechanism enhances the efficiency of regulatory work and broadens oversight, noting that the “Citizens’ Eye” initiative has effectively become an extension of inspectors’ efforts. This approach strengthens consumer rights protection and promotes transparency in the operations of cooperative societies.
