Now, 7 more additional professions eligible for UAE Golden Visa

DUBAI, July 27: As the UAE continues to evolve into a global hub for innovation, luxury, and opportunity, its leadership is widening the scope of the coveted Golden Visa — a 10-year residency permit that allows foreigners to live, work, and study in the country without the need for a local sponsor or employer.

Originally designed to attract investors and exceptional talent, the Golden Visa now covers a wide array of professionals and creatives, offering them long-term stability, career mobility, and added residency perks — including the ability to remain outside the UAE for over six months without losing visa status.

Since 2024, the scheme has seen a series of game-changing updates, extending eligibility to new categories including educators, nurses, yacht owners, eSports professionals, and even environmentalists.

Educators Honoured in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah

In a landmark move to honour academic excellence, Dubai marked World Teachers’ Day in October 2024 by granting Golden Visas to top-performing private school educators. The initiative, announced by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, recognised those who made outstanding contributions to student development and institutional performance.

Ras Al Khaimah soon followed, offering the 10-year visa to experienced school leaders and teachers with at least three years of service in the emirate, an advanced degree, and a proven record of educational impact.

Golden Visa for Nurses: A Salute to Healthcare Heroes

In another heartwarming gesture, Dubai announced Golden Visas for veteran nurses employed with Dubai Health. The announcement came on International Nurses Day (May 12), with visas offered to those who have served the sector for more than 15 years — a tribute to their unwavering commitment to public health.

Luxury Yacht Owners and Maritime Executives Welcome Aboard

Catering to the UAE’s growing status as a global yachting destination, Abu Dhabi launched the 'Golden Quay' initiative in late 2024, granting long-term residency to private yacht owners and maritime industry leaders.

To qualify, yacht owners must possess vessels measuring 40 metres or longer, while senior maritime stakeholders and executives are also eligible. Immediate family members can be included under the same residency umbrella.

Gamers and Content Creators Get Their Turn in the Spotlight

In a nod to the booming digital economy, the UAE now grants Golden Visas to eSports professionals and gaming creators under the culture and arts category. Announced in 2024, the visa allows eligible applicants — including developers, content creators, and professional gamers — to sponsor themselves while helping transform Dubai into a regional gaming powerhouse.

Applicants must be at least 25 years old and possess documented expertise in the gaming sector.

Religious Leaders Recognised with Long-Term Residency

In April 2024, Sheikh Hamdan honoured Dubai’s spiritual leaders by granting Golden Visas to imams, preachers, muezzins, muftis, and Islamic scholars who have served the emirate for over 20 years. The announcement came just ahead of Eid Al Fitr and reflected the emirate’s ongoing respect for religious service.

Influencers, Podcasters, and Visual Artists Join the Golden Ranks

In early 2025, Dubai opened the Golden Visa to digital creators and influencers, including podcasters, visual artists, and social media personalities. The move, launched through the Creators HQ incubation hub, is designed to attract global creative talent and elevate Dubai’s reputation as a cultural and media capital.

The initiative also welcomes major players in the advertising, music, animation, fashion, and lifestyle sectors.

Blue Visa for Environmental Champions

In a bold step toward environmental stewardship, the UAE introduced the Blue Visa — a 10-year residency granted to individuals who have made significant contributions to sustainability and ecological protection.

From saving sea turtles to campaigning for plastic-free beaches, eligible candidates include members of global organisations, NGOs, award-winning researchers, and influential environmental activists.

With the Golden and Blue Visa schemes now spanning a broader spectrum of professions and passions, the UAE is not only celebrating excellence — it's building a future powered by talent, innovation, and inclusion.
