OSLO, July 12: Norwegian Air temporarily changed its Instagram profile logo to British Airways' iconic Speedmarque after losing a friendly social media wager tied to England's 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals.

The two airlines had agreed before the match that the losing side would replace its Instagram profile picture with the winner's logo for one day. Ahead of kickoff, Norwegian Air challenged British Airways by asking if it was ready to "risk your logo," prompting a playful exchange between the carriers.

Following England's win, Norwegian Air honored the bet by replacing its logo and congratulated both England and British Airways with a post reading, "It's coming home," while wishing the team luck in the semi-finals.

The light-hearted challenge drew widespread attention on social media, with several international airlines joining the conversation. Malaysia Airlines and Austrian Airlines added humorous comments, while Malaysia Airlines later praised Norwegian Air for quickly changing its logo, joking that most airlines would need "six months and 14 approvals" to make such a change.

Before the match, representatives from both airlines shared a joint video confirming the wager, emphasizing that it was intended as a fun way to celebrate the World Cup.

The friendly exchange was widely praised online as an example of creative brand marketing and good sportsmanship, with both airlines enjoying a surge in social media engagement despite the result on the pitch.
