North Kuwait feels ‘tremor’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6, (KUNA): Some people in northern Kuwait felt an earthquake that struck an area near Iran-Iraq borders on Sunday, measuring 5.9 degrees on Richter scale, Director of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research’s (KISR) National Siesmological Network said.
Dr Abdullah Al-Enezi said in a statement people in northern Kuwait felt the tremor at 5:15 pm. No one was hurt nor material damage was reported. The earthquake hit Gilangharb city in Iran’s western Kermanshah province, Iran’s Seismological Center said earlier.
The quake took place at 5:11 pm local time, with a depth of 10 km, Tehran University’s center said in an online release. Neither casualties nor damage has been reported by local authorities so far, according to the release. Assessment teams have been sent to the site to weigh the possible damage, it added.
