KUWAIT CITY, April 13: The nomination window for members of the General Assembly of the Kuwait Football Association closes at 9:00 p.m. today, after opening on April 5.
The KFA has set May 20 as the date for elections to form a new Board of Directors for the 2026–2030 term.
KFA President Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef has unveiled his electoral list, which includes Mubarak Abdulaziz as Vice President for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Ayman Al-Husseini as Vice President for Technical Affairs, along with Fahad Al-Hamlan, Majed Awad, Dr. Ahmed Ajab, and Dalal Al-Mudhaf, who represents the women’s seat.
Despite the opening of nominations last week, only one candidate has submitted so far. Al-Tadamon Club confirmed on Sunday via its official website the nomination of General Assembly member Salem Saadoun as an independent candidate. Saadoun brings prior experience in football administration, having served on the KFA Board in 2018, as well as holding roles in the executive office, media committee, and competitions committee.
Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef has been leading the current board in an interim capacity since October 2024, following the resignation of the previous board headed by Abdullah Al-Shaheen.
The current board included Osama Hussein (who stepped down last year), Mubarak Abdulaziz, Hamlan Al-Hamlan, Dr. Ahmed Ajab, Ayman Al-Husseini, and Hanan Al-Hardan (who resigned at the end of last year).
While early indications suggested a consensus election for the new board, recent developments among clubs indicate growing interest in representation, leaving the door open for possible changes in the final lineup.
