KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced the end of exceptional measures related to visit visas and leave permits, with normal legal periods and procedures set to resume from September 1, 2026.
According to the ministry’s clarification, the automatic extension of all types of entry (visit) visas for people currently in Kuwait will end on September 1. From that date, the legal periods, procedures, and regulations governing entry visas will apply again.
The ministry also said that legal periods for leave permits for residents currently outside Kuwait will resume from September 1.
However, an additional exceptional period will remain in effect for residents who left Kuwait on or before August 31, 2026, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The Ministry of Interior further clarified that the residency permit certificate issued through the Sahel application is the official and approved reference for determining the expiry date of a resident’s leave permit.
Residents returning to Kuwait are therefore required to comply with the period stated on their residency permit certificate.
The ministry called on everyone to comply with Kuwait’s residency laws, regulations and applicable procedures.
