KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bouhassan, Assistant Director of the Traffic Awareness Department, announced intensified efforts to enforce regulations against parking in restricted areas and on sidewalks. He stressed that the absence of curb markings does not mean parking is permitted alongside them, emphasizing that vehicles must be parked only in designated spaces and that violators may face vehicle towing or wheel clamping.
Lieutenant Colonel Bouhassan explained that improper parking and driving on sidewalks disrupt traffic flow and can lead to congestion and accidents. Road maintenance work and improper overtaking at intersections also contribute to increased traffic congestion.
He indicated that vehicle owners can authorize another person to drive their vehicle through the “Sahel” app, specifying the duration of the authorization. Lieutenant Colonel Bouhassan stressed that any traffic violations committed by the authorized driver during that period will be attributed to the vehicle owner. In conclusion, he urged parents to educate their children and domestic drivers about traffic laws and the importance of respecting the rights of other road users
