TEHRAN, Jul 3: The funeral and burial of Iran's slain Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, took place in Tehran without the presence of leaders from any major global power, highlighting the country's growing diplomatic isolation.
Despite invitations from the Iranian government, major countries including Russia, China, India and Turkey sent only lower-level officials to the ceremony.
Most foreign attendees consisted of non-governmental Shiite delegations, religious figures and members of political organizations rather than heads of state or senior government leaders.
The absence of top international leaders contrasted with the significance of the funeral, which Iran had expected to draw broader official participation following Khamenei's death.
The ceremony was attended primarily by Iranian officials, supporters and invited religious delegations, while diplomatic representation from key global powers remained limited.
