KUWAIT CITY, Dec 3: Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Administrative Sector at the Ministry of Education Faisal Al-Jutaili has announced that some administrators and teachers under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education (MoE) have no valid residency permits, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily obtained a copy of the letter that Al-Jutaili sent to the undersecretary of the ministry stating: “We would like to inform you that we have received official communication from the Ministry of Interior stating that a group of employees (administrators and teachers) under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education have no valid residency permits to date. Based on Decree 17/1959 or the Foreigners Residency Law, it is prohibited to harbor, house, or employ any foreigner whose residence in the country is illegal.

It is considered a violation of the Residency Law, which obstructs the legal documentation process due to their status not being settled. “Accordingly, you are kindly requested to circulate to the assistant undersecretaries in all sectors of the ministry about the need to ensure the validity of the residency and conformity with legal procedures. “If an expatriate employee is proven to have violated the Residency Law, please coordinate with the Passports Section at the Human Resources Department to complete the legal procedures to settle their situation.”
