KUWAIT CITY, Jul 7: Kuwait's Ministry of Interior (MOI) has clarified that homeowners are not legally required to place warning stickers indicating the presence of surveillance cameras installed within their private residences.

In a statement issued by the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media, the ministry said the requirement under Law No. 61 of 2015, which regulates the installation of security cameras and surveillance equipment, applies only to commercial establishments, government facilities, and public buildings.

The ministry stressed that the law and its executive regulations do not require owners of private homes to display warning notices when surveillance cameras are installed within the boundaries of their personal property. Homeowners may choose to place such a sticker voluntarily, but doing so is not mandatory.

The clarification comes amid reports and social media discussions suggesting that all property owners, including those living in private homes, must display warning signs for surveillance cameras.

The Ministry of Interior urged the public to verify information on laws and regulations before sharing it and to rely only on official ministry sources to prevent the spread of inaccurate legal information.

Residents seeking further clarification on the surveillance camera law or other related regulations have been advised to contact the Ministry of Interior via WhatsApp on 25580888.
