‘No exemption for Syrian teachers from retirement’

KUWAIT CITY, June 12: Director of Human Resources Department in the Ministry of Education Saoud Al- Jowaiser has clarified that Syrian teachers are not exempted from the Cabinet resolution on terminating the services of those who reached the legal retirement age and to renew their contract just once to give them enough time to transfer their residency permits, reports Al-Rai daily.

Speaking to the daily, Al-Jowaiser revealed the Cabinet exempted only three professions — doctors, Muezzins and graveyard workers. He added the ministry tried to exempt some employees with vast experience and rare fields of specialization but it failed to do so.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Hammed Al-Azmi has approved the interview results of six new educational district directors, reports Al- Anba daily. These directors include Shokriya Al-Saeidi for the Capital Educational District, Dalal Al-Nahid for Hawally Educational District, Hamad Al-Saeid for Ahmadi Educational District, Nada Al-Mutairi for Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational District, Fahad Al-Ajmi for Jahra Educational District and Hamoud Al-Anzi for Farwaniya Educational District. In the meantime, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has rejected the Ministry of Education’s request to postpone until the end of the summer break the termination of services of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti teachers who reached the legal retirement age
