No cut in traffic fines: MoI – Illegal billboards removed

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19, (Agencies): The Interior Ministry refuted news reports circulated in the social media outlets over reduction of traffic fines value or the possibility of making partial payments for such violations. The Ministry described in a statement such news as “baseless”. The Security Media Department at the ministry said in a press statement on Friday that such traffic citations are the state’s right where in any way can be reduced except through a court ruling. It recalled the earlier-issued decision to unbloc some of the traffic citations on the occasion of the national holidays, excluding severe violations including reckless driving, high speed, driving with no license and exposing drivers or passengers to risk. The ministry called on social networking sites to not being misled by the rumors and the false gossip, urging all to derive their information from reliable and responsible sources.

Billboards removed: Kuwait Municipality has removed 280 unlicensed election billboards across the Hawalli governorate, in addition to campaign centers that are not fully licensed, reports Al-Shahid daily. Director General of Kuwait Municipality Ahmad Al-Manfouhi called for surveillance bodies to specify the conditions of obtaining licenses for election headquarters, as per Law No. 35/1962 concerning supplementary elections of the National Assembly.

Reshuffle, work tied: Minister of Public Works Dr Ali Al-Omair says the reshuffling of the ministry’s assistant undersecretaries will be based on the evaluation of their performance, their rate of completion of tasks and the executed projects in the sectors controlled by them, reports Al-Anba daily. He revealed that evaluation of the State Audit Bureau’s letter concerning the tender of the new Kuwait International Terminal particularly about the processes followed by the ministry and the accuracy of the data was carried out in cooperation with the Central Tenders Committee.
