New work visa now on ‘Ashal’; Details on Tuesday

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31: According to reliable sources, the service related to issuance of new work permits will be activated on the “Ashal” portal of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) and the Ministry of Health’s portal for vaccination certificates so that employers can submit the required data electronically, reports Al-Qabas daily. They explained that a mechanism for receiving applications for new work permits will be announced on Tuesday based on the Cabinet’s decision to reopen the issuance of new visas and work permits. In this regard, the Cabinet called on PAM to coordinate with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior concerning the opening of the door for new visas and work permits, and to use the electronic link with the Ministry of Health to ensure the validity of the vaccination certificate of the workers who are to be recruited. The meetings among the relevant authorities are continuing in order to finalize the mechanism required for the new work permits. Currently, the issuance of work permits is limited to the categories that have prior approvals from the concerned authorities.
In addition, PAM stipulated to print the work visa and submit the application electronically, to attach the airline tickets reserved for the recruited labor force on government contracts, and meet the condition of specifying the type of contract, duration of work, the salary, the duration of the work permit, profession and educational qualification, and housing allowance for government contracts in order to request the issuance of a work permit to transfer workers from entry visas. PAM has activated, through its electronic system, the mechanism of linking professions to the educational level, as the titles granted for new permits are linked to the educational level of the worker. PAM’s electronic forms provide 28 services for expatriate workers, the most prominent of which are applications to issue a work permit transfer from “study, self-sponsor, partner, family, status modification, entry visa, and government sector”. It has increased its online services by enabling companies to transfer the license between files and provide an approval to cancel or transfer a license or register an external classification of a license.
