KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: The Municipal Council has approved the licensing of various commercial activities in government buildings and the addition of certain services in government hospitals. This decision was made during the 26th ordinary session of the council on Monday, under the chairmanship of Abdullah Al-Mahri, during which all agenda items were approved.
The approved activities include cafés, snack bars, document printing and photocopying centers, ATMs, grocery stores, shops selling flowers, sweets and medical supplies, and retail activities suitable for the operations of the facility. The council granted final approval to reorganize the 6,000-square-meter portion of Plot One in the Diplomatic District, subdividing it into six 1,000-square-meter plots. It approved the request of the Ministry of Interior to amend the its previous decision regarding the police-mounted unit (cavalry and camel corps) headquarters in the Central District, allowing expansion of the site from 75,000 to 102,022 square meters. It approved two requests from the Ministry of Health -- allocate Plot No. 162 in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area Two for insect and rodent control services and to allocate a 20,000-squaremeter site in Granada (Al-Sulaibikhat coast), including an access road, for the construction of a multiple sclerosis treatment center as per Cabinet Decision No. 417 issued on April 7, 2026.
It approved amendments to Articles Two and Eight of Ministerial Decision No. 322/2023 regarding the subdivision of land designated for construction. These amendments regulate the procedures for submitting subdivision or parceling applications, verifying ownership and real rights, and establishing the mechanism for notifying rights holders before and after project approval. It approved the request of the Ministry of Public Works to create an entrance and exit for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy site Sulaibikhat Cemetery (Block One), as well as the proposal to standardize fees for administrative certificates issued to government employees. It referred the proposal of member Abdullah Al-Enezi regarding the creation of two U-turn points on Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Thaqafi Street in Sulaibiya to the executive body for review.
