Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority refers sports leader to public prosecution over alleged false financial disclosure.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) organized a consultative workshop on Wednesday with the theme, “Towards a New Strategic Framework for Enhancing Integrity and Combating Corruption in Kuwait: The Role of Media and Communication.” The workshop aimed to provide a platform for traditional and digital media outlets to contribute to drafting the new strategy, aligning it with the aspirations of the State as per the New Kuwait 2035 vision, its commitments under the United Nations Convention against Corruption, and drawing lessons from Kuwait’s Integrity Strategy for 2019-2025, as well as comparative international experiences. Khaled Al-Muzaini, Director of the Planning and Follow-up Office at Nazaha, pointed out that the Authority is continuing to hold intensive workshops to prepare the new strategy for enhancing integrity and combating corruption.

“These workshops started on Nov 3 and will continue until mid-December. A workshop was held with representatives of several media outlets, including the Ministry of Information, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), and a number of local media platforms and newspapers, to discuss their perspectives on the post-2025 strategic framework. We hope that these workshops will contribute to fruitful outcomes that enrich the process of preparing the next strategy,” he stated. Dr. Haitham Yassin, the lead expert on integrity and anti-corruption at the UNDP Regional Programme for Arab States, explained that the workshop is part of the cooperation with Nazaha, following the conclusion of the previous national anticorruption strategy and coinciding with the start of a series of consultations for preparing the new strategy. He indicated that 10 media outlets participated in the workshop, which is part of a series of workshops, adding that more than 200 people participated in 11 workshops.

“All of these workshops focused on gathering perspectives and identifying general trends and key themes for shaping the new strategy, in light of the accumulated experience gained during the implementation of the previous strategy. Civil society organizations and media outlets play a crucial role as major partners in supporting anti-corruption efforts,” he asserted.
